our graphic designer at work also doubles as a photographer at times and he snapped this quick pic of addi-bug last friday. it is not the typical "i could eat you up b/c your smile is so cute" kinda picture, but i do love this one. as addison gets older, i learn more and more about her personality. what i have learned lately is that when she enters a new place with lots of faces she goes "terry" on me. this face comes over her and she starts to analyze her surroundings - taking it all in. give her 10 mintes and she "de-terrys" and is back to addison but goodness that 10 minutes feels like a long time. i am different - i have to just jump right in before i even give myself a moment to be shy or reserved. i have this need to instantly make myself comfortable no matter where i am...if i don't then i am done. ready to leave. not having any of it. my terry comes in a situation with reservations...relunctance of how this evening or event or whatever will play out. give him 10 minutes and he is a new man...with a new friend talking about football...or finds someone he knows, which always happens. but i guess it is the nature of this world - no two of us are made identical. but it sure does feel like we have a little terry on our hands in addison. tears and more tears
there is a local radio talk show here in brimingham called the rick and bubba show. some of you in other areas have heard it due to its large audience thanks to syndication. but they live in birmingham and birmingham loves them. rick and bubba is a household name in these parts. so much so that sometimes you feel like you know them...and that they know you. they are amazing godly men who love their wives, children, churches and friends. though i have to take little sabbaticals away from them about twice a year, i always come back. what led me back to their mornings of talk this time was not for a good reason - for rick's 2 year old son, Bronner, drowned in their pool on saturday night. i cannot tell you how many tears i have cried. again, i do not know these men personally, but in a strange way i feel like i do. they open their hearts and their families up to people everyday on the radio. heck, i remember when Bronner, who they call Cornbread, was born. they invite us into every major even in their lives...even the death of one of their children. i don't know if i would truly grasp that kind of loss if i didn't have addison, but one thing i do know that i when i got home last night i ran straight to her and held her. held her so, so tight.
this morning i immediatley turned on the radio to hear what bubba had to say about the tragedy. it was heart-renching. good friends came on to tell their sides of the story. when it happened rick was out of town speaking at a student conference in gatlinburg...his wife, sherri, was at home with bronner. but the most amazing thing about this mornings show was the praise they had for jesus in the midst of this tragedy, the fellow believers that were there with them every step of the way, and the overall love of a family that came together in a mighty way. i let myself become so cynical to this world...and let my faith dwindle. these two men, this story, this tragedy has ministered to so many people, myself included. i don't know what i am trying to say...maybe just pray for this family. pray for sherri who will spend a lifetime fighting guilt and anger and hurt. pray for your own family, your own faith, your own life. maybe i just needed to say i was so sad - so scared for the days that god decides to take my loved ones home. whatever it is my sadness wanted to say, thanks for letting me type these words. but more than anything, please pray for this family.

snow day
snow storm 2008 was quite uneventful - addison slept through the entire thing!!! all the snow flurries, all the kids playing, the snowmans being built - all of it. she. slept. she is so my child. but it was still fun to take her out in it anyway. i think she is a pretty cute little snow bunny!

dad dressed in his "oh my goodness it snowed, i better put on every peice of clothing i have or else i will get frostbite" outfit. always dressed for the occassion, my terry. always.

our neighbors tony and karen, the crazy auburn fans, built an auburn snowman and henry didn't like it. he sat there on the sidewalk barking and barking until we came to save him. very funny our little henry dog is.

so that is about it for snow storm 2008. it came. addison slept. it went. henry barked. it melted.

waterbabies
addison and i had her first waterbabies class Saturday morning. i was so thankful that target already had their bathing suits out for the season or addison would have been swimming in the nudey! so what is waterbabies? it is a class for infants beginnnig at 4 months of age...it introduces them to the water as well as teaches them water safety and survival skills. how can a 4 month old learn that, you ask? i have no idea but check out this video.
amazing, right?!?! we thought so! so anyway, we had a blast at her first class.
a cute picture of addi-bug before we leave the house...

addison's favorite part was splashing - especially the mom's with their hair done and makeup
on...no lie, totally made-up moms at a swimming class. some people kill me.
she loved floating and was so good at it!
and after class ole addi-bug was plain old pooped! can't you tell?
