tales from a tired mom

aunt brooksie said it best yesterday "you are growing up so fast addi"...and that she is. even into the night yesterday evening she was showing some of her new "tricks". but before i get to that, let me tell you all about addi-bugs adventures, from the beginning...of last week. for starters, our little bit has a love for power cords. lamp cord, iron cord, tv cord....they can be hidden under any piece of furniture or tucked away behind a lot of crap and she will still find them. amazing. she has "go-go gadget" arms that can seriously stretch for miles and miles. all the way to a power cord.

so this week she has officially "crawled". i use quotation marks because it is not your typical crawl...it is the army crawl but even better than that, it is an army crawl with sounds effects. it apparently takes lots of grunts to get that belly to move across the floor. to the power cord. on one of her "crawling" adventures this weekend, she kept going to the pile of dirty clothes. over and over again. not only does she crawl and get to where she is going, she also will not be deterred from it. i can turn her around and point her in a different direction but back to the dirty clothes it is. or the power cord. sheesh.

she also has a new love for books. she loves to open them up and look at them...all with the tongue hanging out of coarse! yesterday she went straight for some of uncle josh's books...the big, smart books. i have a feeling in a few years she will run from those. back to a power cord.

we had a showing at our house yesterday so after a full weekend of some major spring tingle cleaning (hence the dirty clothes pile) we were kicked out for a few hours and headed to see aunt brooksie and uncle josh. please, please pray for our house to sell. and my sister's house as well. we need some quick real estate turnover right now!

addison had a good ole time choking aunt brooksie while trying to grab her necklace.

i just had to show this pic...this is addison's attempt at sitting indian style...or criss cross apple sauce (whatever the heck that is). anyway, it is too, too cute!

so after a week of chasing, laughing, and chasing some more, addison had a few more tricks up her sleeve. when she goes to sleep at night it usually takes about 10 minutes and she is out. not anymore. last night we put her down as usual and then i got get the monitor. while en route to the monitor, i hear this all-out belly laugh coming from her room. i look at the monitor and see little miss has taught herself to sit up and now thinks it is the funniest thing ever. for the next 45 minutes we watch and laugh and cringe out of fear that she is going to throw herself over the crib.

all in all a good weekend. mom and dad are tired. very tired. but it is so fun to see her grow and discover new things...even if it is a power cord.

finally

there are very few days where i have sat in another room waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more for my child to finally give it up. i sat here staring at this monitor for a good 45 minutes this afternoon listening to little miss cry. she was exhausted and truly past the point of controlling her body enough to rest and sleep. but sleep came and rest is here. finally.

henry dog gets very down when addison cries and today was no exception. he sat on the bed behind me burning a hole in the back of my neck he was staring at me so hard. but he left the room when she was ok. finally.
and just a picture of addison to say....I GOT MY NEW CAMERA!!!!!! I am slowly learning, and there is much to learn about this fancy thing. i will get there. in the meantime there will be pictures of everything you could think of (including a baby monitor and sad dog), a computer that has no picture organization what-so-ever, and me loving every minute of my new camera...finally.

just kidding

thanks to modern technology (a trusty scanner and a little photoshop) I am able to post some pics of addison at school with the easter bunny. every time i get a "class picture" i just crack up laughing. it is too funny trying to get 5 little cuties to all smile at the same time when half of them cannot even sit up on their own. the fall picture was priceless but i have to say the easter one did not disappoint. so cute these little bits are! and thanks to miss stephanie for being the best easter bunny addison has ever seen. but i have a question to ask...why in the heck are easter bunnies so scary looking? am i the only one who thinks this?
addison and cayley - you can always count on addison to choose eating an easter egg over smiling at miss beth who i am sure is jumping, clapping, singing and pretty much doing anything she can to make addison smile. good try, miss beth, good try.

i can't wait...

...FOR TOMORROW!!!!
so my camera (and all the pictures from the last month) is still gone. BUT, do not worry!!! you know all those amazing pictures of addison that come from my sister and her envious camera?!?!?! i got one!!!! and it is coming tomorrow!!!!! oh man i can't wait. tomorrow afternoon is going to be an all-night photo session. i am seriously excited people. seriously.

props

i've got to give props where there are due - miss beth, you make the best mohawk around! you know how i love addison's spikey hair but i must admit, i loved the mohawk even more. if people didn't think i was crazy i would let little miss sport it everyday - seriously. according to miss beth (addison's awesome and amazing teacher, along with miss stephanie) it is the sweet potatoes that truly make the mohawk stand. awesome!

while i have the chance, i might as well talk about addison's two teachers - beth and stephanie - they are by far the most amazing people. leaving your child at daycare is not an easy thing to do. it is hard, heartbreaking, and worrisome on so many levels. however, when you have these two loving your child everyday it makes life so much more simple...i mean, not everyone will give your child mohawks and dress up like the easter bunny to make them smile. just for example, this is how much much i love them - daddy needed a day off from spring break babysitting. he went to play golf this morning which meant addison had to go to school...i was thrilled!!! is it normal that i am thrilled that my child went to daycare instead of staying at home with daddy? maybe not, but you don't have a beth and stephanie. so thank you girls for all that you do! all three of us tingles love you more than you could ever know!!!!!!! and please, keep the mohawks coming....

p.s.s. i would love to put pictures up of the mohawk makers but you see, i don't have a camera. yes, i know, i am bitter....

spring break '08

spring break '08 is wild man...wild! a week home with daddy and look what i come home to....a rocker chick. rock on my friends, rock on.

p.s. camera is still missing - relying on the cell phone cam to capture these pics.

grrrrr....

i have lost my camera...grrrrr. i had an agenda tonight and part of it included uploading addison's recent pics, blogging, printing pictures for my grandmother, and making some easter surprises for addison's teachers...and all of them included NEEDING. MY. CAMERA. so now i am sitting here watching an idiot play the clarinet for a british hunk who could careless but is too much of a gentleman to laugh in her face (aka the bachelor) and fuming over my lost pictures. so, for now there will be no uploading, no blogging (except for this rant), no printing, and no surprising. but tomorrow there may be some shopping - for a new camera that is.

beach bum

the beach was fabulous. ansolutely fabulous. i didn't get my picture but brooke did get some pretty fabulous ones of addison. she loved the beach...especially digging her tiny toes in to the sand. we stayed in seacrest beach north which is just a little walk over to rosemary beach. we ate, played games, rode bikes, took naps, shopped, ate some more, and had a little dance party as well. what is the beach without a little "cha cha slide" to groove to in the house. all in all it was perfect. it made my heart smile. can't. wait. to. go. back. is it june yet?!?!?
